Former Dublin Judge Heather Perrin who is serving a prison sentence for deception has been given a further two year jail term for false accounting. Lawyers for the 61-year-old from Lambay Court in Malahide apologised on her behalf and told the Court she knows she should not have taken the money.

In this case she used money being kept in trust for a client's son to pay more than four thousand euro in legal fees for a second child.

The Court heard the client had legal aid and was told the work would be done as a favour.

'Fundamental breach of trust'

Heather Perrin's lawyers said she has lost her career, pension and liberty adding the former Judge has a lot of trouble sleeping behind bars. Judge Mary Ellen Ring said this was Mrs. Perrin's second offence of dishonest transaction involving a client describing it as a fundamental breach of trust.

She noted the amount involved was relatively small and imposed a 2- year sentence which will run concurrently to her on-going jail term.
