A rain and thunderstorm warning has been issued for the entire country for the next 24 hours.
The status yellow alert is in place until midday on Thursday.
Met Éireann says scattered heavy downpours and thunderstorms can be expected.
There's also a risk of localised flooding in areas where the rainfall is heaviest.
It comes after several days of warm and humid temperatures nationwide.
Temperatures of 20 to 24 degrees are still expected in many areas of the country today.
However, it's expected to turn "cooler and fresher" later this week and into the weekend.
Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees Celsius are expected on Saturday.
