One of the most influential names in women’s magazines – Helen Gurley Brown – has died at the age of 90.

As the editor of American Cosmopolitan for over 30 years, she pioneered a new style of writing – challenging the established norms of cookery tips and housewives fashion.

New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg has called her “a pioneer who reshaped not only the entire media industry, but the nation’s culture”.
