Why are Hollywood obsessed in churning out remakes of old films and TV shows? Is it because they can bank on them being a box office success or is it a lack of creativity and laziness?

To find out Henry McKean hit the red carpet where the European premiere of another new remake took place, Total Recall at the Savoy Cinema Dublin.

Total Recall stars Castleknock’s Colin Farrell known locally as the ‘Farreller’. His co-stars Kate Beckinsale and Justin Timberlake’s wife Jessica Biel added a splash of much needed glamour to shabby O’Connell Street.

The original 1990 classic starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and the reviews of the remake have been average at best. The film cost $125 million to make and so far has taken $71 million at the US box office.

The Arnie film was set on Mars, this one is based on the original 1966 short story ‘We can Remember It for you Wholesale’ by Philip K. Dick.

Set in the future Colin Farrall’s Charcter Douglas Quaid gets fake memories implanted in his brain by a company called Rekall but it goes wrong.
