Christmas is the season for giving - but also for some really great entertainment.
We have compiled some of the best bits to watch this festive season.

December 24th - Christmas Eve
11am: Miracle on 34th Street (Film4)
A woman raises her six-year-old daughter to believe that Santa Claus does not exist, but they both have a change of heart after meeting a department store Father Christmas who claims to be the man himself (1994 version)

5pm: Christmas with the Cranks (TG4)
Luther (Tim Allen) and Nora (Jamie Lee Curtis) Krank decide to skip Christmas altogether until their daughter decides to come home, causing uproar when they have to celebrate at the last minute
6pm: Elf (Sky Showcase)
The enchanting story of Buddy the Elf: a human who has lived in the North Pole all his life, but sets out for New York City to find his real father - and adventure along the way
9pm: Father Ted Christmas Special (RTÉ2)

9:50pm: Dirty Dancing (TG4)
17-year-old Frances 'Baby' Houseman is vacationing with her family at a mountain resort when she is drawn to the staff quarters by stirring music and meets Johnny Castle... She even carried a watermelon
December 25th - Christmas Day
11am: Annie (More4)
The red-headed orphan wins hearts and minds on her quest to find her real parents, with the help of Daddy Warbucks and Grace Farrell - despite the thwarting attempts of Miss Hannigan
12:40pm: Miracle on 34th Street (TG4)
After a divorced New York mother hires a nice old man to play Santa Claus at Macy's, she is startled by his claim to be the genuine article (1947 version)
2:35pm: Jingle All the Way (Film4)
A workaholic father tries to make up for his absence from home by promising to buy his son a hugely popular action figure for Christmas - but every other father in town has the same idea
5:55pm: Home Alone (RTÉ2)
A boy's family accidentally leave him at home alone when they head off on their Christmas holidays. Two burglars are also eyeing up his house - but they don't realise who they're messing with
5:30pm: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (Channel 4)
We did it again! Kevin McCallister is separated from his family by a series of events that see him battling the bad guys again - this time in New York City, where he also has some help from Brenda Fricker
9:30pm: Cyril Cusack: Lár an Stáitse (TG4)
A new documentary on one of Ireland's greatest actors, who was also a poet, playwright and Irish language speaker. Featuring rare family photos, exclusive interviews with his six children and the greatest moments from his long career
December 26th - St Stephen's Day
12pm: A Christmas Carol (TG4)
Bah-humbug! Miser Ebenezer Scrooge despises Christmas and won't have anything to do with it - until some ghosts show him what could be
2:25pm: Mary Poppins (BBC1)
Spit-spot. Jane and Michael Banks need a new nanny and their parents are looking for a firm hand - little do they realise Mary Poppins has other ideas. Tea parties on the ceiling and chalk pictures abound in this family favourite.
2:40pm: The Sound of Music (RTÉ1)
The quintessential classic that follows Maria, a novice nun who is sent to care for Captain Georg von Trapp's seven children in 1930s Austria. Definitely one of our favourite things...
4:45pm: Into The West (TG4)
Grandpa Ward gives a horse he found to his grandchildren, who keep it in their tower-block flat in Dublin. The horse is stolen from them, and the two young boys set out to find it and flee on it
10:50pm: Sing Street (TG4)
Aiming to win the heart of the über-cool and beautiful Raphina, 14-year-old Conor forms a band with a few lads, and the group pours their heart into writing lyrics and shooting videos in 1980s Dublin

The Wonder (Netflix)
Adapted from the bestselling novel by Irish writer Emma Donoghue, The Wonder sees an English nurse called to the Irish Midlands to examine a girl who claims not to have eaten for four months. Filmed in Ireland, it stars Florence Pugh, Ciarán Hinds, Dermot Crowley, Brían F. O'Byrne, David Wilmot and Anna O’Donnell
The Banshees of Inisherin (Disney+)
This black comedy has earned its stars, Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell, high praise. It follows the two lifelong friends, who find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship. It reunites Farrell and Gleeson with 'In Bruges' director Martin McDonagh
