This year’s most sought-after Christmas toys will include Barbies, Paw Patrol and Pokémon.

That’s according to the 2022 DreamToys list compiled by the UK’s Toy Retailers Association.

Eight of this year’s top 12 come in at less than £35 (€40) as families struggle with the cost-of-living crisis.

The list also includes Star Wars Lego, a cuddly giraffe a dollhouse and a magic castle playset.

The list is compiled by a panel of retailers across the UK, including large chains and small independent shops – and is billed as the best predictor for the year’s most popular Christmas toys.

The panel selected toys from a longlist of 72 before reducing it down to the top 12.

DreamToys Selection Committee Chair Paul Reader said it features an “exciting mixture of classic toys and the year’s biggest brands”.

“2022 has been a challenging year for many families and the committee took this into consideration when selecting this year’s list, with eight of the Top 12 priced under £35.

“We know many use the DreamToys list for guidance when it comes to making purchasing decisions and we feel we’ve selected the best toys to delight children this Christmas while suiting different budgets.”

DreamToys has also published the 72-toy longlist to help parents find the best value this Christmas.
