HIQA has raised a number of concerns about a nursing home in Co Monaghan.

It follows an unannounced inspection at Mullinahinch Nursing Home, which took place over two days in December.

It was the fifth inspection at the nursing home.

It found that concerns raised in previous reports had yet to be resolved and that there are still areas of non compliance.

The inspection also found problems when it comes to safety training and fire drills; restraints for residents; and staffing levels and supervision.

According to the report, a high dependency room was not adequately staffed to meet the needs of a resident requiring 24 hour high support nursing care.

"A review of the governance procedures in the centre by inspectors did not provide evidence of adequate systems in place for monitoring the quality and safety of care including risk management procedures," the report states.

"Staffing supervision and staffing levels/skill mix did not adequately meet the needs of residents and there was evidence of major negative outcomes for residents especially at night," the report adds.
