A teenager arrested in connection with an investigation into a hit-and-run incident in Cork has been released.
On Monday afternoon, a two-year-old boy was seriously injured after he was hit by a car at Castle Meadows, on the Skehard Road in Mahon.
The car failed to stop at the scene.
The child has been transferred to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin for treatment.
Yesterday, a teenager was arrested by gardaí investigating the incident.
He was released from custody this morning, and a file is now being prepared for the information of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
