Researchers believe a breakthrough in the search for a cure for HIV will come "within months".

Danish scientists are running trials to test a "novel strategy" in which the HIV virus which causes AIDS is stripped from DNA and destroyed by the immune system.

15 patients are taking part in clinical trials and the technique uses drugs commonly used to treat cancer.
