As Ireland goes to the polls to vote in the General Election, the Social Democrats leader has welcomed a baby girl.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, Ms Cairns shared a photo from her hospital bed with her new daughter.
In the caption, she said that she and her partner Barry Looney are "completely in love" with the newborn.
The child was born at Cork University Hospital this morning.

Ms Cairns announced that she was pregnant in June.
Last week, the party's deputy leader Cian O'Callaghan represented the Social Democrats on RTÉ's televised leaders debate.
At the time, Ms Cairns said she was too close to her due date to risk travelling to Dublin.
