The Port of Cork has indicated it could be able to operate one or two sailings a day to the UK while storm damage continues to affect sailings to and from Holyhead.
Transport Ministers Eamon Ryan and James Lawless have said they're exploring all possible solutions to the closure of the Welsh port, following Storm Darragh.
There's growing concern as chaos looms for Christmas travel and supplies - with massive efforts already underway to clear the backlog of parcels and goods delayed over the port's closure.
Irish Road Haulage Association President Ger Hyland has said some hauliers have been left stranded.
“It’s having a devastating effect all week, with trucks laying up on both sides of the Irish Sea with nothing to do,” he said.
“Our trailers are all tied up, some are sitting in Holyhead, some are sitting on customers premises – and we’re getting very limited bookings on other ports to come back to Ireland, they’re all at full capacity.”
Holyhead port in Wales is reportedly set to remain closed until the 19th of December.
