A homeless man has escaped with his life after a scare in Dublin city centre.
He was tipped from a bin into a waste collection truck this morning.
Greyhound says one of its trucks was collecting rubbish at the Hardwick Street flats in the city centre when this incident happened.
The man seeking refuge from the cold had been sleeping in a large recycling bin, and was accidentally dumped into the lorry.
The company says the man was very lucky the compactor wasn't on, and that he managed to escape the ordeal uninjured.
It says an increasing number of people are putting their lives at risk in this way, and is calling for a co-ordinated safety check protocol to be put in place across the industry.
