Parts of a home-made bomb have been discovered on the North Strand Road in Dublin. The army bomb disposal team responded to reports of a device in the area just after 11am this morning.
The army bomb disposal unit was called to an area around lunchtime. Gardai and a Defence Forces explosives ordnance disposal team also attended the scene.
It was declared safe just after 1pm and the device was taken away for a technical examination.
A spokesperson for the Defence Forces says the device was not viable but it did contain the component parts of a home-made bomb.
The area had been sealed off for a time earlier and traffic restrictions were in place but they have now been lifted.
