Homes affected badly by floods may have to be demolished and rebuilt on higher ground.
Ministers for the Environment and Social protection have been visiting flood hit areas to assess the damage.
Phil Hogan has been in Wexford and Waterford while Joan Burton was joined by Minister of state Jan O' Sullivan in Limerick.

They've been speaking with members of the local community and reviewing the clean up operations.
Minister O' Sullivan says that some houses in the Kings Island area of Limerick will need to be demolished and rebuilt.
