The heatwave is over for most of the country today. Temperatures are staying high but it looks like we will see less of the sun for the next few days.
Met Eireann says there will be some scattered showers over the northern half of the country this morning, but many areas will stay dry with sunny spells. Scattered showers are expected during this afternoon and evening, mainly in Munster, Connacht and the midlands.
Highest temperatures of 21 to 26 degrees and light south-easterly breezes.
Tonight will see scattered, heavy showers tonight in Munster, Connacht and west Ulster with a risk of thunder for a time.
Tomorrow will see showers in the west and south, becoming more widespread in the afternoon and some will be heavy and thundery.
It says the weather will gradually become cooler and more unsettled through the rest of the week.
While Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will all be similar with sunny spells and heavy or thundery showers in all areas, heaviest during the afternoon and evening.
Daytime temperatures will range from the high teens to low 20s, while night time values will fall to between 13 and 15 degrees.
