The hottest temperature of 2022 has been recorded in Dublin's Phoenix Park.

At 30.3° Celsius, it is 10° above the normal temperature and the highest ever recorded in the park.

A yellow warning has been issued across Ireland and there is even speculation that the all-time record temperature of 33.3° could be broken.

Unlike countries in southern Europe, Ireland does not have the infrastructure to cope with such intense heat and many people have been struggling to cope:

"It's very hard at night," one woman in Dún Laoghaire told Newstalk.

"Do we leave the window open or closed- what do we do? There's no air conditioning like, so it's very hard!"

"Super duper hot is no fun for the kids," another woman lamented.

"Even if it got to just to just 18, 19 20°."
