64 per cent of people say they wouldn't welcome a new neighbour to their area.
A survey carried out by Centra has revealed that a quarter of people say they didn't know their neighbours at all while less than half say they knew their neighbour to say hello to but that was it.
The vast majority of people - 72 per cent - say they have no involvement in their local residents association or group at all.
When it comes to what celebrity neighbours people would like to have - Brian O'Driscoll and Amy Huberman are the nation's favourite at 34 per cent while 7 per cent said they would like to live beside Bono.
