A senior member of Labour is denying suggestions of "instability" in the party.
The Public Expenditure and Reform Minister Brendan Howlin is insisting Labour has a clear mandate from its members.
His comments come amid reports today that the Labour leader Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore is facing an internal revolt.
Burton "most likely candidate"
The Irish Daily Star says a leadership heave is likely to take place once the Irish EU Presidency is over.
The publication claims there has been growing internal anger at the leadership of Mr. Gilmore since Labour went into coalition with Fine Gael back in March 2011.
It also suggests that Social Protection Minister Joan Burton "is the most likely candidate to topple the Tanaiste".
The latest Red C opinion poll had the Labour Party on 13% - this is down 6 points since the general election.
However Minister Howlin is dismissing claims of any revolt.
