It's claimed the HSE is prepared to take GPs to the High Court to reclaim 1.5 million euro worth of taxpayers money for treating medical card holders who are dead or who've emigrated.
The Sunday Independent says some doctors continued to claim annual fees for former patients who are now deceased or who've left the country.
In addition, its reported one GP submitted a bill to the HSE for 180 thousand euro for out of hours allowances.
October 31st is the deadline for doctors who received the overpayments.
It comes as the Minister for Health attempts to save 113 million on medical card payments.
