Anyone who witnessed a fatal shooting in a car in Drogheda, Co. Louth overnight is being asked to contact the gardaí.

A local man – who was being sought by gardaí – took his own life in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened in a silver sante fe car on the North Strand in the town, between 5 and 7 AM.

The Garda Ombudsman is investigating the incident, because the victim had interaction with officers prior to his death.
