Hundreds of mourners have gathered in Charleville in Co. Cork for the funeral of Anthony Ward.
The young boy was found dead in his home on Monday morning.
His 43-year-old mother Diane Ward appeared before Limerick District Court charged with his murder yesterday.
The court heard she made no reply when charged.
She was remanded in custody to appear in court again on September the 11th and a psychiatric report has been ordered.
A post mortem examination was carried out and it is understood the young boy died as a result of asphyxiation.
Many of Anthony’s school friends have gathered for the Mass of the Angels in Holy Cross church.
He will be buried afterwards in Holy Cross cemetery.
