Children who lost their lives during the 1916 Rising have been remembered at Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin.

The 40, aged two to 16 years old, died after being shot or injured during fighting in Easter 1916.

Balloons to remember each child were released by relatives and other children, in front of a special remembrance wall.

Nine-year-old Moses Doyle was killed on Whitefriar Street in Dublin on Easter Monday 1916.

His grandniece, Larissa McKeon, says her grandmother often spoke of his death.

"My grandmother told me that he actually went out to the shops that day and never came back," she said.

Around 300 people attended the ceremony, which featured music and readings and a multi-faith ceremony opened by broadcaster Joe Duffy.

A number of musicians, including Declan O’Rourke, played songs inspired by the children of 1916.
