Hundreds of people are feared dead after a super typhoon hit the Philippines, and millions are now fleeing as the storm heads towards Vietnam.

Winds of up to 315 kilometres an hour have devastated coastal towns in the Philippines, with hundreds dead and many more homeless.

Typhoon Haiyan could strengthen as it crosses the South China Sea, and more than 200 thousand people have packed into storm shelters in Vietnam.
