Hundreds of people have died following an airstrike on a hospital in Gaza, the Palestinian Health Ministry has claimed.
In a statement to the press, a spokesperson said, "Initial estimates indicate that between 200 and 300 martyrs were killed in the bombing that targeted Baptist Hospital in Gaza city."
The death toll has since been revised to at least 500 and Hamas, who have killed hundreds of Israelis in recent days, called the bombing a “crime of genocide” by Israel.
The group also called for an “immediate” intervention from the international community.
'Barbaric terrorists'
Israel has said a rocket fired by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group hit the hospital by accident and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described them as "barbaric terrorists".
The World Health Organisation said it "strongly condemned" the airstrike and called for the "immediate protection of civilians and health care".
