Hundreds of people have turned out for a contentious Orange Order parade in North Belfast.
Police are mounting another major security operation after five successive nights of violence, following a decision from the Parades Commission banning
lodges from parading past the Ardoyne shop fronts on the Twelfth.
Orangemen made a new application earlier this week to march the disputed Crumlin Road section of the route today - which was also rejected.
In a statement the Orange Order said the planned parade to protest the determination of the Parades Commission must be peaceful.
