The solicitor for Praveen Halappanavar the husband of Savita who died at Galway University Hospital last month says he will not co-operate with a Health Service Executive (HSE) inquiry into her death.

A lawyer for Mr. Halappanavar says his client wants a full independent public inquiry and will not consent to the release of medical records to assist the HSE investigation team.

A day after the HSE appointed a UK-based medical expert to head-up the investigation into her death the deceased woman"s husband says he will not co-operate with the inquiry.

"Inappropriate" appointments

His solicitor Gerard O"Donnell says his client wants a full public inquiry and has no faith in the HSE investigation.

Praveen Halappanavar has objected to the decision to appoint 3 doctors from Galway University Hospital to the investigation team and his solicitor says it is inappropriate that staff at the Galway Hospital should investigate their colleagues.

He says Praveen who was with his wife in her final days will not co-operate with the HSE and will not consent to the release of records to assist the investigation.

He says his client is prepared to wait for a full independent public inquiry.
