The husband of Tina Satchwell, Richard Satchwell, has been charged with her murder.
Satchwell, of Gratton Street, Youghal, Co Cork, appeared at a special sitting of Cashel District Court in County Tipperary this morning.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before the Clonmel District Court on Tuesday, October 17th.
In court today, Detective Garda David Kelleher of Cobh Garda Station gave evidence of arrest charge and caution.
Satchwell reported 45-year-old Ms Satchwell missing to Gardaí over six years ago in March 2017.
The investigation was upgraded to a murder inquiry this week and Satchwell was arrested following the discovery of human remains in a house in Youghal.
These remains were later confirmed through dental records to be Ms Satchwell’s body.
Officers used mini-diggers and jack hammers as part of a comprehensive search of a house and garden in Cork.
Defence solicitor Eddie Burke asked Judge Miriam Walsh that Satchwell be held in Cork Prison rather than Limerick Prison, but the judge said she has no power over where he is held.
Members of Ms Satchwell’s family were present in the court for today's hearing.
