This week Hyundai released details on the next-generation Tucson. This European-built car will be debuted in Geneva at the 2015 motor show and according to the manufacturer it will hit the most markets from the second half of this year.

We’ve been informed that the interior will offer higher quality materials and finishes than previously and that the inside cabin has undergone “extensive ergonomic testing to ensure ease of use and a pleasant and sensuous experience”. The all-new C-SUV will include heated and ventilated front seats, a smart powered tailgate and Smart Parking Assist System which helps people to parallel and reverse park.

The Tucson has also been updated with new safety technologies. The car is available with an autonomous emergency braking system which triggers the brake when it detects a person or vehicle in front. Apparently this system comes with three operating modes which operate from low to high speeds; pedestrian, city and inter-urban. The Tucson is also equipped with a lane assist system which corrects the steering if it feels the driver is unintentionally going off course. Blind Spot Detection will also be available.

All engines available with the new Tucson meet Euro 6 standards and there will be two petrol engines (1.6 GDI with 135hp and 1.6 T-DGI with 176hp) as wells as three diesels (1.7 with 115hp, 2.0 with 136hp and 2.0 with 184hp).

The all-new Tucson will not be available in right hand drive form until later in the year and it is not expected on Irish shores until the beginning of 2016.
