A verdict is expected in the Ian Bailey murder trial in Paris today.
The 62-year-old is accused of murdering Sophie Toscan du Plantier in West Cork over 20 years ago.
She was found dead at her holiday home near Toormore on December 23rd 1996.
The French court has charged him with voluntary homicide. The case is being heard in his absence and he has not being legally represented.
Over the past three days, the three judges of the Cour d'Assises in Paris have heard evidence from several witnesses including Billy Fuller and Amanda Reed who travelled from Ireland as well as a number of French witnesses – including friends and relatives of Ms Toscan du Plantier.
This morning, public prosecutor Jean Pierre Bonthoux spent 90 minutes summing up the indictment against Mr Bailey.
The judges have now begun their deliberations. They are expected to hand a verdict this afternoon.
Mr Bailey has repeatedly denied that he had any involvement in the murder or that he ever made any admissions in relation to her death.
