As Daffodil Day 2015 launches today, the Irish Cancer Society (ICS) say funds are needed more than ever as the demand for support and services increases.
The society has announced a fundraising target of €3.5m for this year's Daffodil Day on March 27th.
Any money raised goes directly to fund the work of the society across cancer support, prevention, research and advocacy.
Some 570 people are diagnosed with cancer in Ireland every week, up 4% over the last three years.
This year marks the 28th Daffodil Day, Ireland's longest running and biggest fundraising day.
Some 75% of cancer patients wish to die at home surrounded by family - yet only 25% get to do so. The ICS provides the only night time care service for cancer patients in their own homes.
In 2014, their nurses provided 7,800 nights of care to more than 1,670 patients - and this service is fully funded by the people of Ireland who support the work of the society.
John McCormack, CEO of The Irish Cancer Society, says night nursing is just one of the services that benefits from the event.
