The time available to reach a Brexit deal is "shrinking rapidly", according to the Government.
It comes as the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has warned a hard border would return in Ireland if there is a no-deal Brexit.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is heading to New York, where he's due to meet British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the coming days.
While the two men are in the US for the UN General Assembly and climate change summits, they will "take stock" of Brexit negotiations during their meeting.

Today's Behaviour and Attitudes poll for the Sunday Times shows the party us up six points.
The poll shows Fianna Fáil is the most popular party in the country on 29%
It is down one percentage point, but remains three points ahead of Fine Gael - which is unchanged on 26%.

Garda overtime has been severely curtailed around the country for the rest of the year.
All non-essential overtime was banned from last night as the force experiences “budgetary pressures.”
Officers will still be entitled to overtime for “non-discretionary” duties – including attending court and escorting prisoners.
A Garda spokesperson said superintendents will also be able to sanction overtime for specific operations – but only if they are expressly approved by Deputy Commissioner Policing & Security John Twomey.

Consultants are warning that there are now one million people on Irish hospital waiting lists.
The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) is holding its annual conference in Dublin this afternoon.
Addressing the conference this morning IHCA President Dr Donal O’Hanlon said nearly 570,000 of these are waiting to be seen by a hospital consultant.
He said the problem is getting worse with around 7,000 added to the lists each month this year.

Gardaí are carrying out a search as part of their investigation into the assault on Quinn Industrial Holdings executive Kevin Lunney.
Mr Lunney was abducted from near his home in Co Fermanagh last Tuesday.
He was attacked and later dumped at the side of the road in Co Cavan.
The 50-year-old executive was left with serious injuries to his legs, torso and face, and police have described the injuries he suffered as "life-changing."
