It's easy to make and is also a good solution for using up leftovers from previous meals that featured meat. Julia March is a beauty therapist who works with Hollywood celebrities and advises people to drink up to three cups of broth a day. She claims it's especially good for those battling sagging skin and redness.

"My clients see less inflammation, more glow and more toned skin when they drink it. It repairs, strengthens, rejuvenates and heals," she told MailOnline.

You can make broth by simmering bones from meats such as beef and lamb in water with some vinegar, as this is meant to help draw out the minerals. You need to let them simmer for several hours to enjoy the full benefits. If you find it bland, use some herbs or your favourite vegetables to add some flavour or spices for a kick.

It's the natural collagen and protein that are said to benefit skin strength and flexibility.

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule found in bone cartilage, which draws water and essential minerals to cells.

Nutritionist Ian Marber, founder of The Food Doctor brand, revealed: "It can help plump up the skin. It can also help digestion and as it’s rich in magnesium, can help combat stress and relax muscles too. It’s good stuff."

Ian believes using grass-fed beef is most beneficial, as is breaking up the bone before simmering, as this exposes the marrow.

However, there are some concerns about consuming too much bone broth, as bones hold onto lead.

This could mean a high concentration of lead in the soup, which means it's best not to increase consumption too much before more research is carried out.
