US singer Macy Gray has said she 'can't wait to get out there' and headline the Cork Jazz Festival.
The 'I Try' singer is one of a number of acts performing across the city this October Bank Holiday Weekend.
She told Newstalk Breakfast she has always considered herself a jazz singer.
"We can't wait - can't wait - to get out there," she said.
"I tell everybody I'm an undercover jazz singer."
Gray said she can't believe it's been 24 years since her global hit.
"I was thinking about that the other day, everything just flew by," she said.
"It's pretty wild; a lot has happened, but that's just a long time.
"So, it's just had to fathtom that it's been that long."
Gray said nothing can really prepare you for the fame.
"They used to have the Mickey Mouse Club in the States, and you had Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, and they have... career pop schools and stuff," she said.
"You can train and learn to dance and sing, and take media classes, but you don't really know what fame is like until you actually have it.
"I don't think you can teach that.
"So, yeah it takes a while to adjust to it and to wrap your head around it, and to learn how to finesse it and use it and do it right.
"Then there's the money - I didn't grow up with a lot of money - so it was the first time I had money.
"You have to learn about that - how to keep it and that it doesn't fall from the sky.
"So, there's a lot of lessons you have to learn," she added.
