The 34th Dáil had its first sitting today, with 74 TDs in attendance - including 60 first time TDs.
There has yet to be a new Government formed and it is unlikely there will be until mid-January, however, today marked the new Dáil's first sitting.
Before the first meeting kicked off, Simon Harris visited President Michael D Higgins to officially tender his resignation as Taoiseach.
Harris' resignation is part of the formalities ahead of the sitting of the new Dáil.
He will remain as caretaker Taoiseach until a new Taoiseach is elected and will attend a European Council meeting in Brussels tonight.
Meanwhile, TDs gathered for family photos ahead of the first Dáil sitting.

First priority for the new Dáil was to elect the new Ceann Comhairle.
