It has been a home for Barack Obama and his family for the last eight years.

But he, his wife Michelle and their two daughters have closed the door of the White House for the last time, as Donald Trump takes office.

Mr Obama and Michelle have been sending farewell messages on social media.

While Mr Obama's official White House photographer, Pete Souza, has also captured some tender moments.

He has documented the Obama's through the years and around the world.

But he has posted his final official photos for Mr Obama.

Not to be outdone, Michelle Obama has also put up some touching pictures, including this one with the caption: "Being your First Lady has been the honor of a lifetime. From the bottom of my heart, thank you".
