Small business group ISME is warning companies to be vigilant after a sharp increase in the number of calls to its fraud helpline in the last month.
The group is warning businesses that "enterprise fraud is becoming increasingly sophisticated and businesses must be constantly vigilant" as thousands of euro could potentially be at stake.
According to ISME's Crime Survey, 68% of businesses have been a scam target in the past year, with the level of credit card fraud complaints at its highest ever level.
Spamming is still the most prominent scam at 86%, followed by overseas offers at 75%, phishing at 61% and viruses at 58%.
Credit card fraud is up to 23%, compared to last year's 18%. The staff fraud rate has doubled from last year, up to 6% in 2014.
