A tracker survey from the Irish League of Credit Unions shows 1.6 million adults around the country now find themselves in that situation.

According to the 'What's Left' research, that's an increase of more than a quarter of a million people since October.

The number of employed people with €50 or less to live on went up 35% while up to 70% of people overall say they're unable to save money.
