The Communications Minister says he has no objection to a meeting the independent broadcasting sector and RTÉ.
Independent radio stations are calling on the Minister Pat Rabbitte to facilitate a meeting to address the future of the sector.
The call was made this morning by the Chairman of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland at its annual conference.
John Purcell says RTÉ cannot be allowed to dominate the debate or monopolise the future when the independent sector has two-thirds of the market.
Minister Rabbitte says although the proposal has yet to be put to him, he would have no issue in hosting a forum.
Mr. Purcell says a meeting of all concerned right now would be beneficial.
