Since its launch in the Irish capital in 2009, the Dublin Bikes Scheme has seen the number of cyclists taking to the streets increase by 43 percent.
In total, more than eight million journeys have been made, showing that Dubliners have really upped a gear when it comes to embracing two-wheeled transport. Now, a new infographic has crunched the numbers on the scheme, revealing how Dublin has risen to 9th place on the Copenhagenize Index of bicycle-friendly cities.
Created by Paul W Tracey Solicitors, the infographic is a curious and fascinating look at the bicycle revolution.
“As a keen cyclist, I have been delighted by the success of the Dublin Bike Scheme,” says Paul Tracey.
“As we are based in the heart of Dublin City Centre, myself and the team are regular users of the service and have witnessed first-hand the growth in the number of cyclists passing our office every day. The aim of the infographic is to highlight just what a success the scheme has been.”
