According to a breathalysers company, the drunkest day in the US this year was the Sunday before St Patrick’s Day. Based on anonymous data compiled across the year, Sunday March 15th registered the highest alcohol readings of the year, at 0.094 percent.
BACtrack Portable Breathalyzers released a report showing that Americans consume the most alcohol during the winter months, a period of the year punctuated by several holidays.
The report says: "14 of the 15 biggest drinking days of the year, all of which have an average BAC of 0.08 percent or higher, fall between December and March.” Notable dates happening during the period include Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, and the Superbowl.
But all of those days pale in comparison to the Irish national holiday, which proved the most popular day for drinking in the US this year. Here in Ireland, last Friday, when most office Christmas parties take place, was the day of the year when the most glasses clinked.
