An Irish man from Leixlip in Co. Kildare has died in hospital in Melbourne this morning after sustaining head injuries on Saturday.

30 year old Eoin Murray, was found by a passerby injured on the street in the city at around 6am last Saturday and taken to hospital.

He'd been in a critical condition since then.

Victoria police confirmed this morning Mr Murray passed away in hospital this morning and that they are not treating the death as suspicious.

The Dept of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to his family.

It's understood his family is travelling to Melbourne.
