There’s concern for the welfare of an injured fin whale spotted in Baltimore Harbour in Cork.
The whale, estimated to be 18m long, is resting against the Harbour wall and is thought to be either injured or starving.
It’s hoped the whale may be turned and sent back to sea, however there are indictions that it has injured itself on sharp rocks.

Crowds of onlookers have gathered to see the whale – boats are being asked to stay away so as not to cause the mammal any more distress.
