The Integration Centre has withdrawn its plan to complain to Gardaí about comments made by a District Court Judge.
It follows the issuing of a second apology from Justice Mary Devins for her description of social welfare as a charity for Polish people during a court hearing in Castlebar last week.
Judge Devins said her first apology was designed to provide context to what she is calling “an off the cuff comment” made during a sitting at Claremorris in Co. Mayo.
The judge now says she “unreservedly and without qualification apologises” and she understands the hurt caused to the Polish community.
Killian Forde is Chief Executive of Integration Centre.
He says they will not now be making a complaint to Gardaí but he says he will be writing to the President of the District Court.
