Have you built up some savings over the last 12 months of COVID-19 restrictions? Recent research published by the Central Bank suggests that Irish households saved as much as €11 billion since the start of the pandemic.
If you are in this cohort of people, have you thought about how to make that money grow? With interest rates remaining low, now is a good time to consider investing your savings.
Smart investments can be very lucrative over time but it’s often tricky choosing where to invest your money. Luckily, Bank of Ireland has you covered with its new investments education webinar series – Invested.
Launching in May, the new 4 part series will help you learn about the fundamentals of investing, how to become an investor or how to improve as an investor if you are already investing.
Newstalk's Deputy Business Editor Gavin McLoughlin spoke to Bernard Walsh of Bank of Ireland's investment markets to discuss some of the options for getting more bang for your buck.
How to get your money working for you
The first webinar will take place on Thursday, May 6th at 10am and will be MC’d by Newstalk’s Deputy Business Editor, Gavin McLoughlin. Gavin will be joined by Bank of Ireland’s Bernard Walsh (Head of Pensions and Investments) and Jennifer Hardman (Investment Advisor).
The focus will be on some of the main barriers, fears and misconceptions that people have about investments. This is perfect for anyone who has an interest in investing but doesn’t know where to start.
Everything will be discussed in an easy to understand way and the panel of speakers on the day will answer key questions from customers. They will also look at themes from the recent Bank of Ireland national survey and go into topics such as the importance of compound interest, risk and return, and much more.
Looking at risk and return is important because this will help you figure out what is the right investment for you, based on your attitude to risk.
