An investigation has been launched into the death of a man in garda custody in Inishowen in Co. Donegal.

It is understood the man died in custody at Buncrana Garda Station in the early hours of this morning.

A post mortem will be carried out later today.

No details of the age or address of the man have been released.

The matter has now been referred to the Garda Ombudsman Commission.

Donegal Division Chief Superintendent Terri Mc Ginn has been speaking to Highland Radio.

She says both the Gardai in Buncrana and the Garda Ombudsman Commission are investigating:
