An investigation is underway by Gardaí after a man's body was found in 'unexplained circumstances' in Co Cork.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly after 7pm on Thursday.
The body of the man, aged in his 50s, was found at the foot of a stairwell in an apartment in Mallow.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and has since been removed to Cork University Hospital.
The scene is currently preserved and a post mortem examination will be carried out by Dr Margot Bolster from the Office of the State Pathologist later today.
Gardaí say the results of the post mortem will assist them in determining the course of the investigation.
