The body of a man found dead at his Co. Cork home has now been removed to hospital for a post mortem.
The remains of the man, aged in his 70s, were found at midday at a house in Cloyne.
The body was found inside the house and gardai immediately cordoned off the scene.
It is believed the man may have sustained stab wounds.
The scene has been sealed off with specialists from the Garda Forensic Unit due later.
