Gardai are investigating after shots were fired in the Blackrock area of Cork city overnight.

It happened on St Michael's Drive at 1:50am this morning.

Gardai say the shots were fired from a silver Honda Civic car that stopped on the road, in the direction of a parked car.

The Civic was later discovered burned out and both scenes have been preserved for a technical examination.

No-one was injured in the incident.
