A murder investigation is now underway after an elderly woman has been found dead at a house in County Tipperary.
The body of the woman, who was in her 80s, was discovered at a residence at St Joseph's Park, Nenagh shortly before midday on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene and her remains were removed to University Hospital Limerick.
A post-mortem was carried out yesterday afternoon; however, Gardaí are not releasing the results for operational reasons.
The house has been sealed off for a technical examination and an incident room has now been established at Nenagh Garda Station.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses – particularly people who were in the St Joseph’s Park area of the town between 8pm on Saturday and midday on Sunday.
They are also urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have camera footage to come forward.
The Garda investigation is ongoing and a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support the woman’s family.
