Gardaí are investigating a shooting incident at a house in Co. Cavan last night.

A man in his 20's was injured during the incident which happened at a house in Lisdrumskeagh in Shercock just before 10 o'clock.

It is believed one shot was fired when the man was confronted at the front door of his house by two men armed with a handgun.

He was taken by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital with injuries described as non life threatening.

The scene has been preserved pending a technical examination.
